When I first met my girlfriend’s family all the conversations had to be translated to, or in English. However, I have been taking online lessons with Dimitra for a little over a year now and now the primary language of communication is in Greek! Her kind encouragement, humor, and seemingly endless knowledge about Greek culture and linguistics make the lessons informative and something I genuinely look forward to each week. The multimodal learning and structured, yet informal setting that she creates in her online classroom have really helped me tremendously as someone who always struggled with foreign languages in school.

I speak 7 languages, and I had more than 30 language teachers in several countries, in various educational systems, and I have struggled a lot. Then I have met Dimitra. She is far the best teacher I have ever had. Her lessons are just amazing: speaking orientated, matching to your level, you get personalised tasks and topics, she has really high quality online-teaching materials, she gives you a manageable amount of homework, which is actually fun to do. And instead of memorising sentences like: “In order not to miss your final destination, ask the conductor to put you down at Trafalgar Square”, she will teach you how to talk about things that you actually want to talk about. We started a year ago. I could not identify the letters. Now I am reading Cavafy and I am fluent. She also helped me with ancient Greek. Her approach to the language and to the culture is extraordinary, her relationship with Homer and Euripides is pure magic. She is the most positive, energetic, warmhearted, sweet and fun person I know, while her knowledge is unbelievable. I never struggled or felt stressed/overwhelmed, while studying with her, which is a miracle to me. Honestly, learning with her is an absolute joy and a blessing. I am a lucky beggar that we have met. I could not be more grateful to you girl!

I am a conference interpreter with the EU and have learnt many languages with very many teachers over the course of the years. Dimitra is without doubt among the very best. The course has a clear structure, an excellent balance between speaking, listening, grammar. Even at a beginner level I felt encouraged to speak with the limited vocabulary at my disposal. Dimitra's unrelenting enthusiasm and contagious good mood makes each lesson a pleasant experience to which I genuinely look forward to. And so far i've only had the online experience, it must be even better in real life. I can warmly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn or improve Greek!
