Our Story

The Eureka Greek Language School was founded in February 2020 and until recently the lessons were being conducted online. Finally, we are happy to welcome our students at our school at Athens city center and give them the opportunity to learn the Greek language while experiencing the Greek hospitality.

Our vision is to teach the Greek language and spread the Greek culture all over the world. We apply a student-centered approach, through which the learning process turns into an entertaining and stimulating “travel experience” to Greece. For us, learning a new language primarily motivates students to interpret the world from a new point of view. Based on this principle, the lessons are carefully designed by experienced native Greek teachers including various activities which inspire students to express themselves both in written and spoken speech on topics that excite their interest. If you are ready to learn the Greek language in a relaxing, funny atmosphere which deploys the interconnection among the different languages and cultures, then you are at the right place! I speak 7 languages, and I had more than 30 language teachers in several countries, in various educational systems, and I have struggled a lot. Then I have met Dimitra. She is far the best teacher I have ever had. Her lessons are just amazing: speaking orientated, matching to your level, you get personalised tasks and topics, she has really high quality online-teaching materials, she gives you a manageable amount of homework, which is actually fun to do. And instead of memorising sentences like: “In order not to miss your final destination, ask the conductor to put you down at Trafalgar Square”, she will teach you how to talk about things that you actually want to talk about. We started a year ago. I could not identify the letters. Now I am reading Cavafy and I am fluent. She also helped me with ancient Greek. Her approach to the language and to the culture is extraordinary, her relationship with Homer and Euripides is pure magic. I am a conference interpreter with the EU and have learnt many languages with very many teachers over the course of the years. Dimitra is without doubt among the very best. The course has a clear structure, an excellent balance between speaking, listening, grammar. Even at a beginner level I felt encouraged to speak with the limited vocabulary at my disposal.
